Refund policy
SA Depot Return & Refund Policy
We want you to be completely satisfied with your commercial equipment and storage investments. Because our inventory includes heavy industrial hardware and structural logistics items, our return policy is fully aligned with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA), No. 68 of 2008.
1. The 30-Day Evaluation & Return Window
In accordance with standard commercial practices and applicable CPA provisions, we maintain a 30-day return window from the date the item is physically delivered to your site or collected from our yard.
To be eligible for a voluntary return and refund, the item must be in the exact condition in which you received it: completely unused, unaltered, showing no structural or operational wear, retaining all original manufacturer tags/markings, and housed within its original packaging. You must also provide the original Tax Invoice or valid proof of purchase.
2. South African Statutory Cooling-Off Period (Section 16 of the CPA)
If you purchased your items as a result of direct marketing (e.g., unsolicited emails, cold calls, or direct promotional messages), you have a statutory right under the CPA to cancel the transaction without penalty within 5 business days of delivery.
-
You must notify us in writing within this 5-day window.
-
The cost and risk of returning the goods to our depot during a cooling-off period rest with the consumer.
3. How to Initiate a Return
To start a formal return process, you must contact our logistics team directly at info@sadepot.co.za.
-
Authorized Gate Access: If your return request is approved, our team will issue an official return authorization document alongside transit instructions. Unscheduled deliveries or items sent back to our facility without an advance written return clearance will be rejected at the gate.
-
Physical Return Address: Approved returns must be freighted directly to our central depot:
SA Depot Warehouse
65 8th Avenue, Grassy Park, Cape Town, Western Cape, 7941
-
Return Shipping Costs: Unless the goods are structurally defective or damaged upon delivery, the customer is responsible for arranging and paying for the heavy freight transport costs required to return the item to our Cape Town warehouse.
4. Defects, Damages, and Safe Delivery (Section 55 & 56 of the CPA)
Please thoroughly inspect your order immediately upon physical arrival at your site or yard. Contact us immediately at info@sadepot.co.za if you discover the unit is structurally defective, damaged during transit, or if the incorrect configuration was delivered.
Under the CPA's Implied Warranty of Quality, if a product is found to be genuinely defective, unsafe, or failing to meet operational standards within 6 months of delivery, you are entitled to choose between having the unit repaired, replaced, or receiving a full refund, provided the defect was not caused by misuse, alteration, or standard wear-and-tear after leaving our care.
5. Exclusions & Non-Returnable Items
In line with South African law, certain asset groups cannot be returned or refunded unless there is a material hidden defect:
-
Custom Modifications (Section 20 of the CPA): Special orders, customized finishes, personalized configurations, or units tailored to unique client specifications (such as custom doors, electrical installations, or custom paint codes) cannot be returned.
-
Hazardous & Regulated Materials: We strictly do not accept returns on hazardous chemical agents, flammable liquids, or compressed gases.
-
Perishable Items: Goods susceptible to fast deterioration, flowers, plants, or personal hygiene products.
-
Promotional Items: We do not accept returns on clearance sale items, promotional gift cards, or vouchers.
6. Exchanges
The most efficient path to securing an alternate configuration, color, or container size is to process a standard return for the current item. Once your return is received at our depot and officially clears our quality and engineering inspection, a credit will be issued, and you can place a separate order for the preferred configuration.
7. Refunds & EFT Timelines
We will notify you immediately once your returned asset has been received at our Cape Town facility and has cleared our inspection yard. We will communicate the formal approval or rejection status of your refund directly via email.
If approved, refunds are processed via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or credited back to your original payment card within 10 business days. Please remember it can take an additional 2 to 3 business days for South African banking institutions to reflect the cleared balance on your statement.
If more than 15 business days have passed since your return received official approval and the funds are not visible, please flag the transaction with our accounts desk at info@sadepot.co.za.
